چکیده

Paradoxical embolism is a rare cause of severe renal artery occlusion and is frequently under-diagnosed [1]. Rapid endovascular intervention with minimal morbidity may make clot removal possible and reverse organ function [2,3]. We present here the case of a patient with an acute renal failure due to a bilateral renal artery paradoxical embolism that was successfully treated by a modified standard technique of an endovascular procedure, with a rapid mechanical and local pharmacological thrombolysis. The patient partially recovered her renal function and was able to stop dialysis.

Successful endovascular coiling of a ruptured internal iliac artery aneurysm: a case report

Ruptured internal iliac artery aneurysms (IIAA) are extremely rare, and the repair can be challenging. This case reports described an 83-year-old patient who presented at our Emergency Department with acute abdominal pain based on a ruptured IIAA. He refused open repair and only wanted to be treated as minimally invasive as possible. Therefore endovascular embolization of the IIAA was performed...

Carotid embolectomy in the treatment of a paradoxical embolus.

Development of a paradoxical embolus to the carotid circulation through a patent foramen ovale is uncommon but well documented. Previous surgical experience with this entity is limited. Treatment for this condition typically involves anticoagulation or the use of an inferior vena cava filter with concurrent closure of the patent foramen itself. We report successful surgical treatment of a woman...

Successful use of retrograde branched extension limb assembling technique in endovascular repair of pararenal abdominal aortic aneurysm

Surgeon-modified retrograde branched extension limb assembling technique and bridged endografts were successfully used to exclude an asymptomatic pararenal abdominal aortic aneurysm and to reconstruct the superior mesenteric artery and bilateral renal arteries in a case with high-grade celiac artery stenosis, nondilated aorta above the superior mesenteric artery, and large lumen below the renal...

Endovascular management of renal artery aneurysms induced by neurofibromatosis type 1

RATIONALE Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1) is an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by cafe au lait macules and neurofibromatosis. Renal artery aneurysms are relatively uncommon. Endovascular techniques are effective in treating renal aneurysms but successful cases are rarely reported in NF-1 adults. PATIENT CONCERNS The patient was one 23-year-old female presented with hypertension, mu...

Postoperative “Chimney” for Unintentional Renal Artery Occlusion after EVAR

Renal artery obstruction during endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm using standard device is a rare but life-threatening complication and should be recognized and repaired rapidly in order to maintain renal function. Both conventional surgery and endovascular stenting have been reported. We report a case of late postoperative bilateral "chimney" to resolve a bilateral thrombosis of...
